12 Val Saint Lambert large Wine Glasses c1920

12 large Wine Glasses from the famous Val Saint Lambert cristallerie in Belgium.   These are generous and spectacular Wines with a dramatic Air Plume stem and a broad slice bowl. At 15.5cm they stand quite tall and present dramatically on the table.  We are fairly sure that these were made 1919-20 in the immediate aftermath of WW1. The glass factories of Baccarat, St Louis and Val St Lambert, because of their geography, suffered a lot of damage and disruption.   This seems to have particularly affected Val in terms of logistics and stock consistency.  We have seen this manifest many times. This set have minor variations (2-3mm) in height although perhaps only we notice.  This is an interesting piece of history and certainly doesn’t detract from a beautiful set of Wines of a quality not available today.
