Two Sowerby Decanters that can be seen here in the 1880s catalogues. Made using the pressed glass Shut and Cut technique that made Sowerbys in Gateshead such a renowned producer of prestige glass. The Globe and Shaft decanter is a classic example, and the more Taper shaped piece is a hybrid with extensive cutting and a blown stopper. The globe and shaft is in excellent condition and the Taper has a chip to the rim as shown.  The Taper is effectively included for free and is a very attractive decorative piece.

***We are selling one of our barns for development.  We need to clear it by March 2024, and it currently contains much crystal accumulated in the last twelve years and that we have perhaps never attempted to sell. Reasons for this vary…decanters without stoppers or carrying minor damage; wine glasses in 3s or 5s, part suites or simply sets that don’t fit on our main site – however beautiful.  We have down-priced everything accordingly – we hope!
