A Baccarat Jug with hand-applied heavy gilding to the body of the Jug, the rim and the handle. This is a beautiful and impressive piece, standing 25cm tall. The extract from a Baccarat reference book (shown in photos) explains the fashion in the late 19th Century for Baccarat to enamel jugs and other pieces in Japanese designs. This Jug is not in the Japanese style but has been gold painted in foliage. The Jug itself can be clearly seen the 1916 Baccarat Catalogue. The gilding to the body is very good, almost original condition. On the handle, it is as expected, quite worn. The Jug itself is in excellent and undamaged condition. A very rare object.
